Her Story

How has COVID-19 changed your life?

I have definitely been able to see how much human contact I deal with on a daily basis by just negating that from my daily operations. The process of design is pretty secluded but actually being around people for inspiration and searching for fabrics in local factories or New York came to a screeching halt. I could no longer walk in a fabric store touching fabrics. A lot of my clients need fittings and require me to be on a set tending to there needs as a stylist, but that would mean that I am putting my children at risk. I could not take those chances especially with a child suffering with an auto-immune disease. I am very careful about what I touch, smell and who I allow to talk to me in person.

What has your City/County done well?

Now more than ever I am so grateful to be living in a city that is not heavily populated. I think we acted in a timely manner to make sure that our city wasn’t overwhelmed with cases.

What can your City/County do better?

I think the city can begin to concentrate on requiring the elderly, immune compromised and African Americans to take high doses of Vitamin D and C for protection in combination with the stay at home order. I don’t think minors should be allowed back at work in a field dealing with a large amount of the public.
