His Story
How has COVID-19 changed your life?
As an artist (Author, Writer, Poet, Lyricist, & Publisher of Black Pearl Diamonds Publishing), I draw energy from experiences all around me, being an ambivert. Leaning towards introvert mostly, I draw a lot from external connections that have been limited by the current mandates for lessening the curve of Covid 19.
Our entertainment scene, for many, has been restricted to no income from the Stay Home policy. We have had to further find ways to promote/extend our relationships with our supporters and new clients while continuing to hone our crafts. We have to take advantage of this time to build where we can. I recently completed a Mastering Master Class to refresh my skill set and carve out new ideas with approach to workflow. Personally, I’ve missed my children that I’ve made an effort to protect by not exposing myself to them while making sure we were all clear of any symptoms. I am thankful.
Simply, things we’ve taken for granted, such as touch, seems to be a thing to be guarded even more for now on. We are huge huggers (our community). I feed off the energy found in the collective of Poets, Musicians, Singers, and Artists we have here in Tulsa, OK. Everyone works in many collaborated formats to grow our community, as well as, bring much needed attention to the connection of Black Wall Street beyond immortalizing the past, but lay a present foundation for the future generations that do call it home.

What has your City/County done well?
Mayor GT Bynum has seem to take more of a positive stance for the welfare of people over the big business concerns of many. I thank him for that.
What can your City/County do better?
I hope we do NOT open our Stay Home policy to soon, causing more harm than good. I know we can’t control everything, which isn’t wanted. I’d just hope we each would take accountable responsibility for our effect on the people we are in contact with and our surroundings.
